What’s the Deal with the Name 8k?

Many have asked, or maybe you were wondering, what’s the deal with the 8 in all your stuff? 8k, Elev8...why 8?

I decided a long time ago when I was visualizing and planning out my business that I wanted it to have a meaningful name, but to also carry a slight innuendo associated to what really matters to me.

You see, 8 is more than just a number. For years, 8 was my identity, my nickname, my association to my first and last name for many. I proudly wore 8 on the back of nearly every single jersey I wore during my softball career, from recreation to college ball.

And while many may never understand the importance or significance that a sport number carries for a person, 8 is, and will always be, a part of me. It’s a part my life that I love to remember, of the journey that took me all over Colorado, to the east coast and a handful of other cities and states across the U.S.

8 signifies the pride of where I came from, what I did, what I accomplished, and who I have become today. It also associates to all of the life changing friends, coaches, fellow players, and many other softball loving people that I have met along the way, and will never forget.

That’s why, 8.

K is a little more simple, it’s been the nickname my Dad, and only my Dad has ever called me. Michaela nicknames have never really stuck it out through the years, but to my Dad, I’ll always be his baby K. He has and always will be my motivation, my biggest fan, my catcher no matter how many times I short hop him, that voice in the back of my head telling me that the coach was going to put in Mildred if I didn’t start throwing strikes, and the guy who drove me literally everywhere, stood out in the cold and heat to watch darn near every game I played in. He is the one who has always been there to help me find my way through life.

So there you have it. 8k Fastpitch. Buckle In.
